RF Controls’ Intelligent Tracking and Control System (ITCS®):

  • Using only passive ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to identify, locate and track items.

ITCS reads standards-compliant passive UHF tags, such as those which are compliant with the US DoD Passive RFID Policy (2004) and extensively employed by the world’s leading retailers and their suppliers. Using just a single, bidirectional “smart antenna,” ITCS accurately locates tagged items in three dimensions (3D), and tracks the movement of items, materiel, inventory and assets, at exceptionally long operating ranges. Multiple antennas are networked together to cover an area or volume in which tagged items are present. ITCS solves the fundamental business process problem of automatically and accurately locating arbitrarily located tagged items, which is crucial to efficient inventory and asset management.

RF Controls’ innovative developments in advanced antenna technology and signal processing techniques results in exceptional operating range for passive RFID systems. Through the use of proven multi-path ambiguity resolution techniques similar to those employed in military RF tracking and target acquisition systems, ITCS also eliminates spurious or extraneous reads. This means that the locations of tags bring read are known with confidence, leading to enhanced integrity of captured data and resultant business process decisions.

The unique combination of long read range, accurate 3D location and tracking of items tagged using low-cost passive UHF RFID tags, changes the game for RTLS and RFID system deployments, greatly enhancing the applications scope for passive UHF tags.
